For mother's day this year, Lauren was thoughtful enough to get me a card (thanks Grandma)that pretty much sums up my life to date.
"Would you say that being a MOM is a Joy and a Challenge?
With ME being the joy and "YOU-KNOW-WHO" being the challenge!"
I thought it was pretty funny and very fitting.
Speaking of my charming challenge... a recap of my day.
7:30 am- 1st meltdown- Davey decided to play basketball with an orange he found in the fridge. Turns out, oranges are not for shooting hoops.
9:35 am -2nd meltdown- While trying to get out the door to get somewhere by 9:45, Davey decided a nap was in order... on the back of the couch.
I carried him kicking and screaming "night...night!!!" down to the car where he proceeded to arch his back and straighten his legs to ensure a more difficult job for mom.
10:45 am- 3rd meltdown- While wandering the isles at Costco, because he escapes the cart, he decided he'd like to add a box of Graham Crackers to the cart. I made the fatal mistake of saying "no" which led to a full out, drop to the floor, screaming fit in the middle of Costco.
3:00 pm- a series of unfortunate events led to meltdown #4- After being woken up by pounding on the roof (seriously, who fixes a roof on the windiest day of the year?) Davey wanted to take a nap. With me. But not Lauren. However, he communicated this by kicking and screaming instead of kindly suggesting Lauren go to her own bed, thankfully she prefers that anyways.
4:30pm- meltdown #5- Davey let me know he'd rather ride in Daddy's truck than Mommy's. See meltdown #2 for end of story.
6:00 pm- meltdown #6- Instead of joining us at the table for dinner at Granny and Papas, Davey wanted to "Jump" on the beds instead. This time, I let Granny deal with him and soon enough, Davey joined us for beef stew.Ok... so it was MY beef stew and MY spoon and MY lap, but he was there and not jumping on beds or screaming.
Did someone tell "you-know-who" that he'll be turning 2 soon?

I have a you-know-who who, after she turned two, realized that melting down in public was her best bet b/c I was usually holding onto Ethan. Particularly memorable experiences at McDonald's and Barnes and Noble come to mind.
